10th Trooper Indonesia Gathering - Dieng Mountain

The cold Dieng mountains at the end of the year 2010 was getting warm as 126 vehicles, Troopers and Non-Troopers, started to gather in the Annual event of 10th Trooper Indonesia Gathering (TIG X). The event that has been held during the last 9 years, still able to show a magnificent spirit of togetherness created among the Trooper lovers. They were coming from throughout Indonesia islands and various areas such as Riau, Palembang, lampung, Cilegon, Bandung, Jakarta, Bekasi, Bogor, Yogyakarta, Solo, Blitar, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Bali, and other region. An absolute proof of a strong unity for Indonesia Trooper Community (KTI) as a family, not only just a community.

Choosing the Dieng mountains for this year's spot, the participants who attended in groups began to arrive since December 31, 2010. The main event was held on January 1st, 2011 night time, giving the opportunity for all participants who might just depart on New Year's Eve from their location, to participate in the Gathering's main event. This place was deliberately chosen by the event committee in the middle of Java island, so it is still reachable by our fellow from the eastern region such as Bali, and western region such as Sumatera.

This year Gathering is indeed quite unexpected by the event committee. Initially, TIG committee expected around 50 vehicles who might attend this Gathering, so the concept of the event was 'Simplicity' by bringing back the spirit of togetherness as a family, as the first time TIG was implemented back in year 2003. However, the reality was different, because it turned out that the registered participant was exceeding 120 vehicles. It was even exceeding the Famous 9th Trooper Indonesia Gathering back in 2009. This was a new record for KTI in terms of number of participants in one particular event.

The 10th TIG was divided into 2 (two) parts, the 31-December-2010 event and the main event in 1-January-2011. The first event was designated for participants who arrived earlier in Dieng. The event committee who consist of the KTI member assisted by the local Chapter, Banjarnegara Chapter, prepared the Country Road (CR) event for those who liked to enjoy the scenery of Dieng plantations around the area. It was such a great experience for the participant having this trip accompanied by pouring rain during the evening.

That night was the New Year's Eve and all participants were gathered in Pendopo Soeharto-Whitlam, located not far from the area of Arjuna Temple. With fireworks to close this New Year's Eve with a festive atmosphere and laughter to warm up the cold night. Some participants decided to relax on their home-stay to rest, due to their long journey from home.

First day in the New year was made for a free event for families. Most participant use their time to visit tourism spots in Dieng area while enjoying the clean fresh air. By noon, the 2nd group was created to have their CR trip. The trip was prepared  by the CR Committee and this time was very fortunate for them because  the weather is so nice and friendly. There were no obstacles during the CR trip so all participant were able to return to the parking area in mid-afternoon.

That night on 1-January-2011 was the main event of TIG. Most participant who attended from various regions gathered in the Hall of Soeharto-Whitlam Pendopo, accompanied by a live music performance to warm the atmosphere. Unfortunately as the day before, heavy rains flushed the area from late afternoon until the evening, giving more laziness for some participants to come.

The main event was opened by the Chairman of the Indonesia Trooper Community, Mr. Tono, accompanied by Ichal Oemarella (Yogyakarta Chapter) as MC. Full with humorous speech to give even more joy during the session. Each Chapter representatives were given time to give their speech and introduction, including one of the KTI Founding Father who is also one of the KTI Advisor, dr. Leonardus Trissoemardiarto, Leader of the East Java Trooper community Mr. Widiyantoro, and other representative such as Haji Agus from Sriwijaya, Anto from Bali, Alvis from Blitar and so forth. Such a great and beautiful moment for us to see all peopole gathered together in the warmth of TIG. Seems we did not want to return home and seing this moment took place without and end. Hopefully this moment will last forever.

Sahur Adventure Off Road VI, 3-4 Sep 2010

Some time ago, the 4Wheeler, one of the off-road community where one of the activitst is also KTI Jaya senior, Ryco Arnaldo, on 3-4 September 2010 held an event called the 6th Sahur Adventure Off Road (SAOR). As in previous similiar activities, the purpose of this event is to strengthen the relationship among off-road enthusiasts while awaiting for meal time for the participants  who were running the fast, due to Ramadhan. The event was attended by 70 vehicles from various off-road communities such as The Series, Land Rover Club Indonesia, Komunitas Trooper Indonesia, Suzuki Jip Indonesia, Taft Diesel Indonesia, KJB, BOA, E4WD, Bintaro 4x4, and several others, presenting a light offroad track while distributing a charity act during the event for social activity.

All participants gathered and regroup at Sentul Rest Area on Friday night, 21:30 pm, and started to reach Babakan Madang at 22:30 pm after briefing. The trip to Babakan Madang spent about 5 km and with approximately 15 km of vehicle convoy. After reaching location, the group began to enter the rocky soil track. Due to hard rain that flooding the area about two hours earlier, the track has totally changed made it quite heavy for most participant to move. There are some obstacles along this path, starting from the ramp, inlet, water line and with a fairly severe conditions made some cars suffered from broken axle and must be returned to Jakarta.

Severe field conditions made the trip even longer and longer... Up to 3:30 o'clock in the morning, the group decided to stop for resting and having the meal. There were also some event where they misstakenly took the route by entering Hambalang , then tried to returned back to Babakan Madang Coblong, a villaged targeted for the charity act. Some limitation were encountered as the group passed through the narrow village where participants needed to stop for while due to their roofrack stucked on the villager's roof. Some unexpected conditions were also found during this trip, where some road branches were closed so the groups had to take a circular route to reach the target location. Some obstruction such as mud puddle also existed. They struggled quite a lot where the track condition were getting worse as each vehicle passing through.

The route made it difficult enough for the committee and made them decided to 'Backtrack' or returned, although the path to basecamp was near enough but the group couldn't pass through because it was planted with crops by the local people. The SAOR event finally finished at 12:00 o'clock noon. Eventhough some vehicles suffered from problems, including one vehicle from BOA which was rolled over...joy, solidarity, brotherhood and interesting experience did not make the participants discouraged and stay motivated until the end of the event.

Kopdar Jaya, 4 September 2010

After a while havent had Kopdar, this time Jakarta Chapter (KTI Jaya) held a gathering on last Saturday, September 4th, 2010 and took place in the parking lot area of Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta. Having previously thought to move the location of the Kopdar to a new location near one of a private Television station in Mampang area, finally it has been decided to remain at Kalibata location. With the theme of "Kopdar Ngabuburit" (Ngabuburit means, waiting for breaking the fast), this Kopdar use the afternoon time to let the KTI members to break their fasting while gathering. This is because, in the meantime our Moslems colleague were having their Religous fasting moment during Ramadhan.

This time the main goal of this Kopdar was to keep the communication between our KTI Jaya colleagues remains in a good shape, particulary since we have some new colleauges that recently joined KTI who so far haven't had time to meet directly with the other KTI members. Warm and nice atmosphere which is typical of KTI was very noticeable when participants gathered together for just chatting and exchanging information bout many things. It was realy nice to know new faces in the community that may have been able to communicate via email, can now share the joy in the warmthness among the Trooper Indonesia Community family. There were not less than 30 vehicles attended this event, both Troopers and Non-Troopers, and it was unexpectable condition for us where all these cars had densely filled the area.

Some new colleagues who attended this Kopdar include Nur Amin, James T. Kaunang, Jon Erwin, Ratih Aestetika, One Darmawan, Dewangga and some others who actually have joined KTI long time ago but then appeared again in this Kopdar such as Bayu Amijaya and the former leader of Bandung Chapter, Derry. This Kopdar is planning to be held in routine, in the future, like when the Kopdar was firstly held in 2002. Back then, Kodar was held on every Sunday every 2nd and 4th week every month. But then, since other events were actively held by KTI, this Kopdar is planning to be scheduled for once every month so at least our KTI Jaya members could  have still stay in touch and keep the coummunication among each other in regular basis.
