10th Trooper Indonesia Gathering - Dieng Mountain

The cold Dieng mountains at the end of the year 2010 was getting warm as 126 vehicles, Troopers and Non-Troopers, started to gather in the Annual event of 10th Trooper Indonesia Gathering (TIG X). The event that has been held during the last 9 years, still able to show a magnificent spirit of togetherness created among the Trooper lovers. They were coming from throughout Indonesia islands and various areas such as Riau, Palembang, lampung, Cilegon, Bandung, Jakarta, Bekasi, Bogor, Yogyakarta, Solo, Blitar, Surabaya, Sidoarjo, Bali, and other region. An absolute proof of a strong unity for Indonesia Trooper Community (KTI) as a family, not only just a community.

Choosing the Dieng mountains for this year's spot, the participants who attended in groups began to arrive since December 31, 2010. The main event was held on January 1st, 2011 night time, giving the opportunity for all participants who might just depart on New Year's Eve from their location, to participate in the Gathering's main event. This place was deliberately chosen by the event committee in the middle of Java island, so it is still reachable by our fellow from the eastern region such as Bali, and western region such as Sumatera.

This year Gathering is indeed quite unexpected by the event committee. Initially, TIG committee expected around 50 vehicles who might attend this Gathering, so the concept of the event was 'Simplicity' by bringing back the spirit of togetherness as a family, as the first time TIG was implemented back in year 2003. However, the reality was different, because it turned out that the registered participant was exceeding 120 vehicles. It was even exceeding the Famous 9th Trooper Indonesia Gathering back in 2009. This was a new record for KTI in terms of number of participants in one particular event.

The 10th TIG was divided into 2 (two) parts, the 31-December-2010 event and the main event in 1-January-2011. The first event was designated for participants who arrived earlier in Dieng. The event committee who consist of the KTI member assisted by the local Chapter, Banjarnegara Chapter, prepared the Country Road (CR) event for those who liked to enjoy the scenery of Dieng plantations around the area. It was such a great experience for the participant having this trip accompanied by pouring rain during the evening.

That night was the New Year's Eve and all participants were gathered in Pendopo Soeharto-Whitlam, located not far from the area of Arjuna Temple. With fireworks to close this New Year's Eve with a festive atmosphere and laughter to warm up the cold night. Some participants decided to relax on their home-stay to rest, due to their long journey from home.

First day in the New year was made for a free event for families. Most participant use their time to visit tourism spots in Dieng area while enjoying the clean fresh air. By noon, the 2nd group was created to have their CR trip. The trip was prepared  by the CR Committee and this time was very fortunate for them because  the weather is so nice and friendly. There were no obstacles during the CR trip so all participant were able to return to the parking area in mid-afternoon.

That night on 1-January-2011 was the main event of TIG. Most participant who attended from various regions gathered in the Hall of Soeharto-Whitlam Pendopo, accompanied by a live music performance to warm the atmosphere. Unfortunately as the day before, heavy rains flushed the area from late afternoon until the evening, giving more laziness for some participants to come.

The main event was opened by the Chairman of the Indonesia Trooper Community, Mr. Tono, accompanied by Ichal Oemarella (Yogyakarta Chapter) as MC. Full with humorous speech to give even more joy during the session. Each Chapter representatives were given time to give their speech and introduction, including one of the KTI Founding Father who is also one of the KTI Advisor, dr. Leonardus Trissoemardiarto, Leader of the East Java Trooper community Mr. Widiyantoro, and other representative such as Haji Agus from Sriwijaya, Anto from Bali, Alvis from Blitar and so forth. Such a great and beautiful moment for us to see all peopole gathered together in the warmth of TIG. Seems we did not want to return home and seing this moment took place without and end. Hopefully this moment will last forever.

TIG IX - 2009

Trooper Indonesia Gathering (TIG) IX was the most interesting TIG ever held. Why? Because this TIG which took place in Kopeng and Ambarawa, Central Java 2009 was attended by more than 100 Chevrolet Trooper from all across the country.

Held on 31 December 2009 - 2 January 2010 and under the theme 'HISTORY & HERITAGE', the event were focused at 'White Cross' Inn in Kopeng that has a magnificent landscape view, and also tour visit to the Train Museum in Ambarawa. Prepared and organized by KTI Yogyakarta, Pak Tono and his fellow committee member prepared a unique program combined with some attractions by the member of KTI Yogyakarta families. This TIG succeeded to involve the other KTI regions including from Jakarta, Bandung, Bogor, Cirebon, Yogyakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Paiton, Blitar, Bali, Medan, Palembang, Riau up to Lombok.

What made this TIG so special was, there were participant coming from other countries (Malaysia, Japan and India) and the participant who participate were 113 Chevrolet Trooper plus many other vehicle in different brands....incredible!!

What an achievement! Even in other countries it is very difficult to have this condition and collecting so many participant of 1 single type of vehicle. This is the power of the family spirit that had been held by the Indonesian Trooper Community as the principle of life for the organization since it was founded 8 years ago (2002).

Hear are the details of the TIG IX events:

Day-1: 31 December 2009

The TIG-IX participants were planned to gather directly in 'White Cross' Inn, Kopeng, Central Java. The event for the 1st day was focused for an amicable reunion among participant and determining the spot where they will set the tents for staying over night. The first night all participants were doing camping at the camping ground located not far from the 'White Cross' cabins. The events of the evening was only an amicable reunion between all KTI members from Java, Bali, Sumatera and Borneo, and also to spent the New Year's Eve 2009 to welcome the year 2010 with a campfire.

Day-2: 1 January 2010

In the morning all participants were getting ready to clean up the equipments and belonging to check in at the 'White Cross' lodge rooms. Morning events was a tour to the local point of interest such as Ketep or Kedung Kayang waterfalls. Other event was to travel to Boyolali and New Selo,  hiking post to Merapi mountain. The TIG participants were served by an incredible scenery during the journey. After spending the rest of the day on tour, then they continued to check in for rooms before starting the maint event of TIG IX. There were a lot of events presented by the participant. Starting from the introduction of each then continued to other Chapters. The entusiasms of the KTI member to participate in this even were reflected from so many family members who participated. Not only the parents or the children, but even the grandparents were also coming. Once again, it was incredible to see the atmosphere.

Day-3: 2 January 2010

In the morning all the participants were ready to have a tour to the train museum in Ambarawa. The journey was taken in convoy through the countryside with a beautiful natural landscape, which served with high terrain and down hills. Arrived at location, participants did the tour around the museum before they gathered again to enjoy the journey using an old steam train. This was the main object of this museum. It uses wood as fuel and it was an unforgettable experience for all participant. Unfortunately, it was limited only up to 80 passengers due to the limitation of the space. After lunch, TIG-IX was closed and the participants split up to return to their home.

The succeess of TIG-IX was mainly because the hard work of all the event committee, lead by Pak Tono and his team, where it had given a sweet memory for all participants who attended. Thank you pak Tono and the team! We'll meet again on the next event...!

TIG VIII - 2008

With the theme of 'GO GREEN', the TIG-VIII was held on 29-31 December 2008 and took the route to East Java with the final destination Bromo mountain and Lawang. The participants coming from various regions were gathered at the meeting point in the city of Yogyakarta, and then the groups headed to Blitar, East Java where our fellows from KTI Blitar had been awaiting and then guided our way to Blitar.

On this occasion, we also performed the inauguration of KTI Blitar which formally joined the big family of Trooper Indonesian Community.

The group was received and welcomed by Alvis, one of the KTI Yogyakarta member who later founded the KTI Blitar. The group arrived and was welcome in Alvis' residence and even the Mayor of Blitar also attended to participate in the event of KTI Blitar inauguration. What a surprise!

All participants of more than 70 cars, continued the journey from Blitar to Probolinggo. After a lunch break, the group was guided by our fellow KTI East Java heading to Bromo mountain. The group then checked-in at the Bromo hotel and the Lava View hotel at around 19:00, where the opening ceremony of TIG-VIII will be held. In this event, the entire participants received souvenirs from KTI Bali.

On the next day the event began with the "The planting of 1000 pine tree". The group then moved toward the famous sand dessert of Bromo crater for some photo session and then continued to the Bromo savannah.

After that, the group then started to have a 'Country Road' trip to Lawang tea plantation. The event for the day had some constraint with less-friendly weather due to coincide with the rainy season. Fog and rain often accompany the group during the trip in Bromo and Lawang. At 20:30, the convoy entered Lawang and took some rest before closing the TIG-VIII in the next morning.

TIG VII - 2007

This time the Trooper Indonesia Gathering (TIG) VII took place in Central Java and Yogyakarta area, and was held on 9 - 11 July 2007 with participants from the KTI members of Java and Bali island.

The fellow KTI members from Java and Bali depart from their each region to the meeting point in Central Java. The detail of the TIG-VII journey were as follows:

Day-1: 9 July 2007

After checking out from the transit hotel and made a consolidation meeting to discuss the travelling plan, the group then headed to Ketep Pass using normal route. In Ketep Pass, participants enjoyed the natural beauty of mount Merapi and Merbabu, while watching the volcano eruption movie. Next journey was to Borobudur temple for a tour and lunch. Then all participants returned back to Yogyakarta for a free program for all family, before headed to Kaliurang to check in, or for the participants who prefered to camp they set the camping ground at Wonogondang area.

Day-2: 10 July 2007

The main event of the TIG-VII was held in Wonogondang and began with an opening speech by the TIG-VII committee, KTI Committee, and then continued with an amicable. At 9:00 the event continued with the Country Road touring toward mount Merapi area, led by our fellow from IOF (Indonesian Offroad Federation) Yogyakarta. After lunch, the event continued with some outbound activities for familiy, and 'Speed Offroad' for the other participants who interested. Event for the night was 'Night Offroad', hosted by the our fellow from IOF Yogyakarta to Merapi. And for participant who did not participate, they conducted a gathering with a campfire.

Day-3: 11 July 2007

It was the last day of TIG-VII where all participants left to Kledung Pass, Temanggung. The rest of the day was spent with some events and activities while enjoying some tea, ginger soup, roasted corn, and others. We closed TIG-VII event and each participants left for their each hometown.

There is nothing can describe the beauty of the togetherness among the TIG VII participants, and we surely wait for the next TIG events.

TIG VI - 2006

On 25 December 2006 - 1 January 2007 the annual TIG event was held with the theme of "Trooper Indonesia Gethering VI - Roadventure Java-Bali". This time the TIG VI was attended by the members coming from various areas such as Cilegon, Jakarta, Cirebon, Semarang, Surabaya and Bali as the host, with the total number of participants 31 Chevrolet Troopers from Java, and 17 Troopers from Bali. Total participants 48 cars.

The journey began on 23 December 2006 through the north shore, passing Cirebon and Semarang where the group joined the other local members. The group arrived in Denpasar on 25 December 2006 morning. Upon arrival at the destination, the group was accepted and welcomed with an incredible ceremony and served with the Balinese dancing which was presented by the children of KTI Bali's members.

The following are the details of TIG VI events.

Day-1: 25 December 2006

The first day passed with a trip to the Ceger beach, Garuda Wisnu Kencana monument, Uluwatu and Jimbaran.

Day-2: 26 December 2006

On the 2nd day, two groups started the activities by visitting the General Motors' booth in the exhibition which took place in Water Boom, Kuta area. Then the convoy moved to the Kintamani lake to had lunch in Lake View restaurant, which provides stunning views over the lake and the mountain of Batur. After lunch, the journey continued with the cross country while enjoying the rural scenery and the natural beauty of Bali, over the highest bridge in Asia located in Plagan village.

At night, the groups stayed at Lovely Garden hotel in Bedugul and enjoyed the 'Joged' entertainment prepared by the fellow KTI Bali. Some participants also had some offroading in Baturity, not far from Bedugul area.

Day-3: 27 December 2006

The morning event was a free event. Some participants visited the Bedugul Botanical Garden, and some other visit the local market for shopping. The event then continued with the light offroad through an unspoiled forest, toward the Buyan lake, which were located not far from Bratan lake.

This time, KTI also conducted a charity act to an orphanage in Tabanan. This event was the last event in Bali before all participants prepared themselves for the journey back to Java island.

Day-4: 28 December 2006

At 15:40 WITA the group moved to Gilimanuk and stay overnight at Kalibaru before entering Jember.

Day-5: 29 December 2006

In the morning the group continued to Lumajang via Jember. In Lumajang, participants then regroup with Zaenal and Asep who led and guided the group to Bromo and then continued moving forward to Ranupani and arriving at the famous savanah in Bromo. After photo session, the group then moved down to the dessert sand on the afternoon, and then continued to Lava View hotel for resting.

Day-6: 30 December 2006

In the morning the group went back to the desert sand in Bromo crater to have some light offroad while enjoying the atmosphere, before preparing for the journey to Yogyakarta.

Day-7: 31 December 2006

The group arrived in Kaliurang, Yogyakarta and served with an offroad path. Some participant didn't waste this opportunity to enjoy the track and then moved on through Magelang - Temanggung - Parakan and stayed in Dieng Kedung Pass hotel. The TIG VI participant passed the New Years Eve in this hotel.

Day-8: 1 January 2007

This day was the last day of the TIG VI journey. The group moved to Wonosobo to visit Dieng plateau, and continued the journey to Banjarnegara. TIG VI group then splitted in Purwokerto to returned back to their each destination.
